Synapsis: An ageing porn star, struggling to provide for his family, agrees to take one more job for life changing money. He is given limited details to start with, but it soon becomes clear that he has become involved in the making of a disturbing film blending sex and extreme violence. Including pedophilia and necrophilia.
How did I get here?
Step 1: You find a list online of extreme horror/banned films and it immediately attracts my interest.
Step 2: Memorize list and begin searching.
Step 3: You attend a horror convention and see “A Serbian Film” Uncut on the table. That’s on my list! I have to have it! You buy said film. Excited for your purchase and to get home to watch it.
Step 4: You watch said movie from beginning to end.
Step 5: You quietly turn off the movie. Check the front door to make sure the police aren’t there coming to take you away.
Step 6: Shower repeatedly
That was over a month ago. I struggled with the thought of talking about this movie. Am I doing a disservice by given this movie time on my website? I am not a stranger to extreme horror and will be describing those films in future blogs. As for extreme this movie is at the top of the list so far. A well-made film that pushes and exceeds the limits of sex and violence. To be honest 85% of the film is watchable. The other 15%… well I don’t want to see the dog get killed or abuse of young children in my movie. Let’s just say they didn’t kill a dog.
Full disclosure I knew about the subject matter in the movie but not the specifics. I don’t read many reviews. I don’t want my opinion swayed. The person selling it to me said “Do you know about this movie?”. “Yes” I replied “Gimmie please!”. In hindsight that was a sign. The few scenes in question exceeded my tolerance level and left me feeling dirty. So as far as ranking this film it goes to the bottom of the list. As for the disk itself, it goes to the bottom of my sock drawer never to see the light of day. As for me I am on to the next movie on the list and another shower.
Be safe, be yourself and happy horrors.
